Whats tests required for admissions? Extra things to get in?

Published

Hello all!

I'm sure my questions have been addressed before, so if there are threads, please point me in that direction!

What tests are required for admissions to CRNA schools? I know the GRE is, but I've also seen information abut the CCRN and others? Also, are these tests just taken before a person decides to start applying to CRNA schools?

Is there anything else that can be done to make your application 'shine'? I was a pre-vet student for a while and there is a huge emphasis on working for vets, volunteering, getting research jobs, etc. for applications.

I know 1-2 years of ICU experience is required for CRNA school, but do they take into consideration other things? I thought about getting my parademic's license, would that look good? How about shadowing, is there anyway to report on applications that this was done?

And for shadowing, how often should a person do that? It'll be a while before I apply, but I like to get a jump start on everything! :)

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it!

relax....it sounds like you are on the right track. Get great ICU experience (and start from the get go working on thoses letters of rec....impression counts) do the CCRN thing and shadow. When you write your letter of intent, talk about what you learned or admired while shadowing. I don't think they care too much about paramedic stuff. CRNA school is tough; they want to know that you are tough enough to take it, and smart enough to pass. Work on those things to get an interview...shine when you get the opportunity....and then get ready for school!!! good luck.
