What's the market like for Home Health Care nurses, and or businesses on Oahu?

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

I have a friend who opened a home health care business in Indianapolis several years ago and is doing extremely well (they have about 30 employee's and earned about 400K last year after expenses) despite this being a fairly competitive market. What's the "home health care" market like in Hawaii? On the one hand I would think that a higher than average number of retirees would create good demand for this service. However, the high cost of employing people (CNA's, LPN's, and RN's) would make this a relatively expensive service to offer. On the other hand I have read that LTC facilities are in short supply (relative to demand on the Islands) so that should tend to mean more demand for this service. What's the real deal?

Thanks
