What Weekly Assignments do you have to turn in... Are they a real pain?

Published

Hey I just wanted to get an idea of what some of you guys' weekly requirements are for your clinical program. I guess I am just looking for a reality check or just to see that maybe someone else has it a little tougher than me so that I can stop whining because I feel like I am always doing paperwork!!!!

Here's mine may not be much...lemme know

I go to clinicals 2 days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday from 6am-2pm) Then return to class (from 3 pm-7pm)

My clinical paperwork is due by start of class Thursday.

1 Careplan, attached with

  • w/ references
  • Prioritized Nandas at least 10 of other possible Nursing diagnosis we could have addressed with related to's.

1 Client complete client assessment attached with

  • Discharge plan that encompasses all of clients current conditions

1 pathophysiology Paper

Now I would attach an example of previous papers so that you can see It's not as simple as it seems as I have an instructor that demands perfection or we will be doing the papers all over ALONG with the next weeks papers On top of studying for a cardiology exam.

I may be whining, but it just seems a bit much to turn in the next day after our clinical rotations and have it be so precise. Not too bad if we had a week to get it done. Whaddyathink!

I work a 12 hour shift at the hospital for our clinical one day/week and have a 4 hour lecture another day. We have a TON of reading to do for lecture but as far as paperwork for clinical....this is what we need to turn in (for one patient)

Baseline Demographic Information page that includes CC, hx of present illness, PMH, PSH, culture/ethnicity, diet & rationale

Labs & Diagnostics page - we have to interpret all abnormal labs/diagnostic tests and state the reason for the normal labs (why they were drawn)

Preclinical Research - pathophysiology with concept map along with S/S, clinical manifestations, focused assessments, nursing interventions & 3 priority nanda's

Medication worksheets - ALL the meds our patient is on & we have to write down everything about them!!!

Reference page

After we care for patient - we include the AEB for the care plan along with expected outcomes & evaluation

Also after we care for the patient - we need to do a psychosocial assessment

We then have to fill out a form to our clinical instructor about our day - kinda dumb...lol

I think that's pretty much it!! Oh and I'm in my 2nd semester of a 2 year program
