What to do over summer? No internship and feeling down.

Hi, everyone. I am trying very hard to stay positive about the situation I am in so I am looking for advice and some encouraging words.

I was kicked out of my home at the age of 18. That is just my parents' way of thinking and I respect that! They thought I could be an adult at that age. Btw, I am currently 19. Graduated HS at 16 and have been in nursing school for 3 yearss.

I have been struggling a lot especially financially. I am a 4.0 student and have been doing great. However, I struggle to have leftover money for "fun" things which is fine by me. Necessities are more important. I do not drive as I can not afford driving school. Therefore, I do not have a car.

I was offered an interview for a nursing internship back at my hometown which is 2 hours (by plane) from where I currently live at university. I could not do it as they gave me no time to even go there. They did not realize that I was in a different state for school. So sadly, I had to turn it down + clinicals + tests that week. It was impossible for me to make it home without missing something.

In the state I am currently in, I had 2 internship interviews. I did not get either internship which I was very devastated about. When they reject you, they tend to give you reasons. The 2 reasons I got were: I was considered too young to be a competent nurse! The average age in my class is around 30-40 with the second youngest being 25.

I feel really upset about this situation and I have no one to blame but myself. I was wondering if anyone can offer help as to what I can do for these next 3 months? Everyone seems to be have something to do in my class; internships, nurse aide jobs, etc. I feel like I am stuck with nothing. Even if I am offered something later on, I do not feel I can make it because of financial issues (car, bus ticket, paying fees, parking, etc). I have been trying to look for a part-time job (last resort) so I can have some extra money for books and nursing equipment in senior year.

Can someone help?? :(

Sincerely,

Frustrated nursing student.
