What state to take nclex 2016

Hello guys!

I am very confused now as to what state should I take Nclex Rn. I'm a Filipino nurse, with no SSN, residing here in the Philippines.

I have asked an agency here and advised me to take Texas as I have no SSN. However, I also want to take Hawaii because I have relatives there and promised to help to get there (but I don't know how).

I asked Hawaii Bon, they said that I could sit for Nclex even without SSn but they wouldn't issue license without that. They also said that my exam results will be valid after 2 years. So I asked again what happens thereafter and they said I may have to take the exam again, however, that will be determined at that time.

I have also searched for Texas process and it seemed easier than Hawaii. However, my concern is their 20 contact hrs continuing education requirement for license renewal. Do you have any idea if I could get that here in PI and how much does it costs?

Lastly, if ever I passed in Texas Nclex and planning to endorse it to Hawaii Bon, do I need to spend another $350 for Credential Evaluation?

Please kindly help me on this. I have been searching these over in the internet but I felt so lost.

Thank you so much in advance.

If there's a chance that hawaii is going to make you resit the exam in order to renew you license then go with texas.

I am also Ph educated and just passed the NCLEX and applied to the Texas BON.

If you pass NCLEX through TBON, no you don't have to pay the $350 for CES. Just the endorsement fee.

Regarding the 20hrs of continuing education... sorry i have no information about that. All i know is that so long as you're practicing then there should be no need for that.

Hello Ms Shulace!

How long did you process your application before Texas Bon informed you that you're eligible to take the exam?

Thanks for the information.

Hello

Texas bon requires English test also?

I do not know how the process works for getting a license as a Non-U.S. citizen, but for an American, once you are licensed in one state, it is easy to endorse to another. You would however have to pay the state you are endorsing to (Hawaii) for the license, so if money is your primary concern, try to get the license where you will be working. Once you are working here, $350 will be affordable though, as you will make that in a single shift.

And, you are required to do continuing education to be able to renew your license, but you will not have to worry about that until a few years after you get your additional license. The states I have endorsed to have not required continuing eduction to endorse. Your employer will likely have classes you can take to meet that requirement, or you can do them online when that time comes.

No, you will just need the English test for the Visascreen application :)
