What side of the elevator do you stand on?

Without fail... it's *always* move to the right, lean against the side wall, closer to the front. I've realized I do this subconsciously every single time I get on (and have enough room to decide).

I wonder if this can be studied and psychoanalyzed. :)

I never really thought about it, strange but interesting question. I stand facing the door, next to the buttons if able.

By the buttons ( CONTROL ) with my back to wall facing into the middle.

I work in a very large urban hospital. I speak of off-peak situations when there's actually a choice where to stand and I'm not up close and personal with somebody else's neck hairs.

On the flip side.. peak hours can be interesting. I once experienced this little ol' lady literally body slam my friend into the wall in an attempt to squeeze into the elevator.

Hardly elevator etiquette, but I laughed so hard, my side hurt. :lol2:

As close to the buttons as possible and facing the front of the elevator.

I live in a rural area - not many elevators except at the hospitals and at Macy's . . .

I just go wherever there is room to squeeze my butt in...

i get on, push my button and then stand on the right side near the back. what really irks me is folks who will get on the elevator after me, not carrying anything and immediately go to the side opposite the buttons and say "six please" without looking at me. i tend to be "deaf". if someone isn't capable of pushing the buttons (carrying stuff, on crutches, whatever) i don't mind pushing it for them, but i'm not the elevator man and if you're capable of pushing the danged button for yourself, do so!

I also tend to try to stay away from others and am almost always catching myself trying to get off on the wrong floor. I get very nervous when somebody gets on who has a certain look about them. One of the consequences of having bad experiences in one's past.

Usually the side that the control panel is on, depending upon how crowded the elevator is.

I'm moving to the ER. God bless never having to go up fifteen flights again. I've never encountered people who cannot push the button for themselves. I wonder what part of the country they live in...
