Recently a surgeon went to our head nurse to accuse a scrub nurse of something she dident do nor did he have any proof. But this man to alleviate blame from him had to find someone to put it on. The head nurse totally believed him, asked no questions, dident ask for proof and told the nurse off. Is this job worth that kind of behavior, would any of your head nurses do this?. What kind of a profession do we belong to when this kind of hierarchial sexist, elitist , biased is allowed to take place. What is the role of a head nurse, to be fair or to keep the surgeon happy.

I work a couple of places and fortunately for me both head nurses will listen to your side before making a decision. Luckily also, we don't have a bunch of surgeons who demean and accuse the staff. They are very easy to get along with, except maybe the water-walkers(heart surgeons). I haven't had a proble with a surgeon in many years and don't expect to. Your head nurse sounds like a kiss-up to the surgeons and this shouldn't be tolerated. I don't know how it is in the UK, but if this continues maybe going over her head and going to maybe the Director of nursing to resolve this problem. I just think she should at least listen to the tech and decide then if something should be done. Also talking with people who might have been around would help. Sounds like she is more worried about what the surgeons think of her than the staff who she is supposedly supervising. Good luck, Mike
Thanks Mike. Right now its so hard not to be angry at a lot of things going on at work. Trying to work through it all.
