I know sometimes i get anxiety and stressed from variable things going on in life. What do you do to cope?

I play board games with my boyfriend or I will go babysit my niece and nephew. Those are the only things I can keep my mind busy.

- I note down the things that happened this day. !!! On paper - with a pencil !!!

(I don´t trust in IT.) That helps me to slow down my brain and qualifies how to react.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

On days off I go and shoot guns, play with my daughter, join my friends and let the kids take over. Anything to distance myself as much as possible from what I do.

Specializes in public health, women's health, reproductive health.

Chant (meditation), go out in nature, play my favorite instruments, watch movies/tv, spend time with my family and/or friends...

Specializes in CMSRN, hospice.

Read, play the piano, go for a walk or run outside, make plans with a friend, paint my nails and watch a movie, snuggle and talk with the boyfriend. Whatever mashes me glad to be alive in that moment.

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

Bake, bake, BAKE!! Something really elaborate and attention-requiring, like "Spanish Wind" torte :)

Go for some foodie shopping.

Drive with Pink Floyd or Queen blasting full power (we recently got 75 mph speed limit, yeay!)

Read.

Continue to learn Spanish.

Plans once I am done with Boards and get new job under some stability: learn how to sew my own clothes :)

Specializes in Psychiatry, Community, Nurse Manager, hospice.

I meditate, practice yoga, read, swim, get fresh air, exercise if I am mildly stressed.

If I am moderately stressed from work I tell my husband to remind me not to talk about work.

If I am very stressed I cry first.

Specializes in Psych, Addictions, SOL (Student of Life).

Because of my Recovery journey I assess each stressful situation to see what category it fits into. Is it something within my power to change or not. If not I try to "let go and let God" handle it. If it is within my power to change I roll up my sleeves and get to work. Once the work day is over you can usually find me in my garden where I grow unique and interesting heirloom vegetables and even play amateur horticulturalist. Play with the dog or go watch my son play football or wrestle. He is a high school athlete and pretty good athlete.

Peace
