The great thing about nursing is that there are so many opportunities and specialties that you should be able to find something that fits you well.

The biggest negative I have in nursing is that "nursing" always gets blamed when something goes wrong. You should be able to get used to it though. Where I work everyone charts the least needed to decrease any chances of getting blamed for something. :(

Pros- I only have to work 3 days a week so I get plenty of time with my children.

Nursing is so incredibly rewarding when you have patients who are appreciative.

Every day I go to work, the things I say and do are to improve a persons well being. It is a selfless profession.

It's not a job, it's a passion.

Cons- The days I work I will never get back, I spend fourteen hours away from my family. When I leave they are sleeping, when I get home some nights they are sleeping.

We are the middle person in every situation, therefore we get the blame.

...

we are expected to know and understand an outstanding amount of things that can go wrong with the human body! So keep up to date on evidence based research and standard practices for common illnesses and conditions. :)

Thank you for your response. I like the factthat I could only work three days a week. That way I have more time for my family. I don't like the fact that a lot of nurses always say nurse get blamed for everything. Why don't the doctors get blamed for everything they are the ones in charge? Just my two cents!
