I am Private Duty LPN in central ny, have my Medicaid provider# and bill medicaid directly. Am basically self employed and pay thoses taxes here too! Work with parents and Dr's to get proper orders, meds, treatments etc, have county in every 6mos to assess the need for nursing to continue and file alot of paperwork with Albany medicaid to get a prior approval # good for 6mos to bill for services. I bill online once aweek which once I got it figured out is a breeze now. Paycheck in the mailbox every Fri. Lpn wage standard across the state is 21.63/hr. Was wondering what Private duty was like in fl.....is it like here?Have tried to research it a bit, but very confused on how this process works there, and where to find that kind of job. Here it's pretty much word of mouth or ads in paper. love the one on one care.and I do mainly peds!! Hubby can retire in a few years and I want to run and hide from the SNOW and COLD!!! Thanks!

I had an independent provider number which was easy to obtain in Ohio, but the paperwork here for medicare/medicaid is astronomical!! Not worth the time and effort unless you can find someone who works for government to work you through all the red tape.
