What is the point of RN-MSN

If you have intentions of getting your BSN and going into a program for either CRNA or APRN, it seems like going into an RN-MSN program would actually cost more money because these two programs are still almost 2 years long. If somebody knows different please enlighten me for I am just a student.

It really depends upon where you chose to do one of these programs. I know that the the CRNA program requires, in Texas, at least that you have a BSN prior to applying to the program and if that is the track you wish to take, I see no reason to get your MSN first, since, effectively your CRNA is a Master level degree.

As for the APRN, most of the schools that I have found that have an RN-MSN program, have as an option to choose the APRN, NP(family, peds, mother/baby, geriatric, psych), MSN - Nursing Educator, or MSN - Business Administration. It is your choice which you want to pursue.
