What makes a good palliative nurse?

Published

I'm just finishing up my first year of the practical nursing program and I love it. During my clinical placement I really thought about what type of nursing I want to do.

It's possible my mind could change, but after learning a bit more in my classes I have become very intrigued and interested in palliative care nursing. At first I was totally put off by the idea of it, but after actually getting into the hospital setting for the first time it grew on me.

With summer approaching and free time actually being a possibility, I am wondering if there are any courses/certificates I could take (I'm in Ontario if that matters). Also, any books (just ordered Final Gifts), words of encouragement or advice that you have for me. I would love some guidance.

Thanks so much for helping me out, I truly appreciate it.
