What should I study?

Published

I am going to take Micro in the fall and I just wanted to get a head start over summer when I have all of this free time. I have a friend's Micro book as well as her Physiology book. What topics are emphasized the most in both subjects that you really need to know like the back of your hand for nursing? There was soooo much covered in physiology and I don't know what is used the most in the real world. I just want to get a head start while I still can:bugeyes:! Thanks!

I would just open and start reading, you would be surprised what "sticks" when you go through it the second time in lectures and during assigned readings. I already outlined the first four chapters for A&P in the fall and read each of those chapters once I scored 95% on the chapter review questions a week later so i feel very prepared. about 3 weeks before classes start I'm going to do up to the muscle chapter and start memorizing bones (it's usually the final exam!)

Even though the teacher teaches from her own notes using PowerPoint I feel confident I'll have a good foundation!

Good luck to you!

I've finished A&P 1 & 2 and am now finishing up Micro. Had an A in the first two and so far an A in Micro. Muscles were the most difficult section for me in A&P. For Micro, I'd say if you're not very current on your chemistry, give yourself a good review there.

Find whatever study method(s) work best for you and be prepared to explore different options. I draw a lot of diagrams and hang them up in a part of the house where I have to see them many times a day, and have recently started listing to audio notes from VanGo notes. Good luck to ya and let us know how things go! :specs:

In A&P I'd go back over the heart (maybe pick up a book on EKG readings from the library to supplement?) and I'd also go back over fluid & electrolytes. It seems that many of my hospital patients this term had issues to do with at least one if not both of those areas.
