What does the acute area of an SNF mean?

I feel like an idiot because I don't understand this, but I was reading a job posting that said:

Preferred Experience: Six months CNA experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area.

What does this mean? I thought skilled nursing and acute care were seperate areas of care. If a patient was acute, they would be in the hospital, right? Please correct me if I am wrong, and tell me what they mean.

I have one year CNA experience in a skilled nursing facility. There is a "regular" unit where I work, an alzeimer's unit, and a medicare unit. Would the medicare be acute skilled?

Sounds like they're talking about long term acute care, aka, LTAC.
