WGU Tennessee RN to BSN program

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the WGU Tennessee RN to BSN program? I kept hearing about WGU on the radio so I checked out the website today. I'm wanting to start working towards my BSN (have to take all my pre-requisites for it, I only have the basics needed for my ASN). Just curious if this would be a better/faster/cheaper option than doing it through MTSU or other universities.

I went through the program before WGU Tennessee existed. It would have been nice to have the "Tennessee" bit on my diploma and resume. But, other than the name, the WGU Tennessee RN-to-BSN program is the same as the generic WGU RN-to-BSN program.

My experience with WGU was very positive. I finished the program in 14 months, although I could have finished it much faster if I had been more motivated to do so. The tuition was very affordable compared to my local university's RN-to-BSN program. And, to top it off, I had no issues getting into an FNP program. That was my biggest concern, due to the fact that WGU only gives you a 3.0 GPA no matter how well you do. This may be a problem if you're attempting to get into a more competitive program, such as a CRNA program.

I don't think that you will find a faster or cheaper option. However, "better" is subjective. At the RN-to-BSN level, much of the coursework is management and research related. You may find some butt-in-seat programs that will prepare you better for management and research roles with clinicals in those areas. But, the majority of RN-to-BSN programs that I researched did not have clinicals outside of a community health practicum (which WGU also has).
