Westchester Community College / Associate RN Degree

Published

Hello everyone! I am considering applying to Westchester Community College's nursing program but it doesn't seem to be accredited. Is is a problem graduating from an unaccredited nursing program?

1. Is it then more difficult to get a job? Is it a problem transferring that credit for a bachelor's or a master's degree?

2. Also, are employers hiring RNs with an associate degree? Or does one need a BSN nowadays to get a job?

Any thoughts / help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)

I read that:

"government healthcare prefers accredited graduates

accreditation doesn't make a difference

Since it's a CC, some credits might not be transferrable when you go for BSN accredited

some people say ADN gets hired because hospitals rather pay less for the same job

some people say certain amount of BSN is needed, preferred in hospitals"

Also, "WCC takes the top 40-60 students with the highest TEAS scores , and out of 700-800 applicants, that could mean you have to get a 87-93% to get in" for the same test, you can choose LPN, if you didn't get into ADN
