Hello all. I am Ashley forum stalker but never a poster, also a pre-nursing wcccd student with only 2 more pre-req's to go (woo-hoo!), anyways, I have some questions maybe you guys could help with.
When is the soonest semester I will be able to apply for the program? I am taking Micro and A n P 2 this fall, and still need to take the test ( not sure the new name yet? formerly NET).
Also do I need to go to the application meeting or can I obtain the info I need from the school?
Thank You in advance :)

How soon you can apply depends on when you take the new test (TEAS, I believe? I lucked out and took the NET, so I'm not quite sure what's going on with that now). If you take it this year (if it's available - I have no idea), you may be able to apply to start in Fall 2010. The deadline for applications for the Fall 2010 semester is the last day of February (in 2010, that'll be February 28th). If you don't make it, you can apply for the Spring 2011 semester, for which the deadline is June 30th, 2010. (Unless, of course, they change the deadline dates.)
Unless they've change things since I applied in June (I doubt it), you cannot apply outside of an application meeting. Also, you must attend an information meeting before you can apply at an application meeting. There's no way around that: your application won't even be looked at unless your application packet includes the little "confirmation note" you get at information meetings. You can, however, get a nursing program "info packet" from any campus (go to the student services area/office), but that doesn't replace an info meeting. Once you go to the info meeting and you're done with your pre-reqs, you can attend an application meeting and submit your application. Generally, both the application and information meetings are at the NW campus (though they have had them at Western - the application meeting I went to, for example, was held at Western).
Good luck! Some run from the very idea of taking AP II and Micro together, but if you have good instructors for both and manage your time well, you should do fine. Once you're done with your pre-reqs, if you haven't already, consider getting your co-reqs (DT 130, ENG 120, BIO 252, etc) out of the way as well. Not only do you get extra points if you have all of your co-reqs done (up to 5 points in a 100 point system) by the time you apply, but you'll be able to smirk and chuckle when some of your fellow nursing students are kicking themselves for entering the program with just the bare minimum done.
Shannon! Thanks, u r awesome. I seriously learned more from this post than I have from my entire wcccd experience.
I was afraid to take 250 and 295 together, but I am a stay at home Mom and with the kids going back to school I'll have plenty of time to focus on my classes. According to rate my prof's I have really good instructors so hopefully I will get A's :)
Thank You again, you are such a help.
