Becoming Nursing Assistant Certified in Seattle

Friend of mine just quit teaching at South Seattle- unorganized nursing program. I don't know about the CNA program. I have met the nursing school director of Renton Tech - that seems like an up and coming school ( in terms of the nursing program) - I think they have programs that start you as a CNA and move you along to become an RN if you are interested in such things. I am not familiar with the others you mentioned.

Guess it would also depend on your drive to and from the place - do you like your car and want to spend your day in it? :)

Thanks for your feedback, nesher. I took all my RN pre-requisites at South and had heard similar things. I've pretty much ruled them out, even though they are the closest.

I've decided on Shoreline for the RN program...so I am willing to drive at least that far! Now I just have to get in!:)

Hi Tabitha - A woman I know went to Renton Tech and she felt they had a great experience with clinicals at Valley Medical.

I chose LW as it is closer to home and so far I'm happy with it although clinicals are at LTC. However I'm getting it not to work in as a NAC but as experience to put on my nursing school applications.

I've been thinking about doing Med-Prep (I really want to get some experience as a CNA) so it's good to know that it is a good program!

Does anyone know the job market for CNA's in the Seattle area?

Regarding Medprep, if is not too far it is the greatest, inexpensive and quick! I really should start collecting on my referral bonus and quit sending everyone there without my name attached! :selfbonk:

Was it easy to find a job after going through non-nursing home programs? (Such as MedPrep and NATI?).

I just finished my clinicals and training at NATI in Shoreline last week - I thought the instructors were great, the night classes were great for my schedule, and the clinical experience was positive. I have been finished for 1 week and just got offered a job at a nursing home today and feel very prepared. I looked around and tried to find nursing home based programs in the area and couldn't find any that were currently holding classes. I think you just have to get your training and be persistent about job hunting, have all your paperwork together when you interview, etc. to really impress them with. Good luck!
