I have applied to the Walden RN- MSN track for my FNP. I have been out of school for 7 years and am really nervous! I live in Tennessee and will have to travel out of state for my practicum portion. I am wondering if anyone in Tennessee has went through this l program? I have also heard its hard to find a preceptor?

Yeah, I'm curious about this as well. I am in Washington and will have to go to Idaho or California for practicum. I won't be applying for a little while but I am curious to know what they told you about how to go about getting an out of state practicum assignment. I also heard it was hard to find a preceptor. I am wondering if this program is going to be more hassle than it's worth. How hard was it to apply? Was there a lot of requirements to fulfill?

I have already applied and it wasn't all that hard. I filled out an online app then sent my transcripts. From what my advisor said I would have to get my license in Georgia then transfer it to Tennessee but I don't know how hard that is. You don't have to have a lot of credits to get it and your gpa just has to be 2.5. My only hold up is transferring my license.

And finding a preceptor.

Why do u have to go to Wa or Id for practicum? What does that entail? I was not aware of any practicum requirement, just clinicals with a preceptor. I'm moving to Wa in 2 months...and may be applying to Walden.

I'm also relocating to Washington and just got accepted to Walden FNP starting Sep 2013. Did you get approval to complete your practicum in Idaho or California? I've been trying to contact the Board of Nursing in Washington to see if they will be accepting Walden's practicum hours, but the person that knows the answer there never answers her phone. Did you try calling WA BoN? I will be in your situation soon. I hope it works out for the both of us.

I just got accepted to Walden FNP also starting Sept 2013. I haven't heard any problems with Walden's practicum not accepted here in Virginia. Goodluck!

i just applied also .. I am pretty excited
