Wages and other sign on agreements???

I will be graduating in the Spring and I have been working a minimum wage job so I am not sure what I should be expecting or accepting for a wage when one is given to me by a hospital that is hiring me? I also am wondering what kind of sign on bonuses or enticements I should be asking for or expecting? Last I am also wanting to continue on with my education and finish my Bachelors so I was wondering if some hospitals reimburse you for that?

As a new grad in this job market, your should consider getting a job offer itself as the signing-on bonus.

Seriously, there's too many new grads out there, so it's not as though employers have to lure them in when they're turning them down left and right. There may be a few places who are still offering new grads incentives, but the job market is nowhere like it was 3 or 4 years ago, so those places are very few and far between.

Some places may give you a uniform allowance, or spring for your NCLEX review program. But if you're expecting a check for $4,000 to join them as a new grad, good luck. Experienced nurses have better luck getting signing incentives...but again, nothing like the ones offered several years ago.

Some hospitals will reimburse you for the BSN, or will pay for it provided you give them x years of service afterwards.

It varies by where you live. I just accepted a Cardiac Stepdown position with a sign-on bonus, they pay for NCLEX class and pay us our wage while we attend and a wage bump @ 6 months.

Others not so much. It is very variable.
