Ha!
I seem to get "they need you downstairs immediately, a kid can't get up!" I gather my old bones to the scene where LD is on the floor because they tripped, not hurt but dramatically wailing. Magically my presence and my words "get up" fix them instantly!

Hahahaha.... I have so many teachers ask me to bring the wheelchair because a kid "can't get up." I'm always like, "Noooo, I'll come back and get it if I need it."

I invented a term a few years ago; I'm surprised it didn't make it into the Merck Manual..."post emesis paralysis." A condition wherein the child's body freezes in the position occupied as they were vomiting that can only be "unlocked" by the school nurse - "You can stand up now." TA-DA!! Paralysis unlocked!!

I get lots of "So and so just vomited in the bathroom!" I usually just say, "Okay, they know where to find me when they're done." :)

Our district policy is that a grown up has to witness said vomiting to be a reason to go home. Everyone loves that. Haha. If no one has witnessed I always PO challenge. If no fever and they hold water down (and don't look pale and sick) they go back to class. Once or twice it's bitten me in the butt and they come back throwing up later but most of the time not.
I'm going to talk to admin about requesting this change.

Yesterday, I got a phone call from a frantic parent (frantic, but over an hour into the day) "someone threw up in the house this morning" All kids in the household (two families) denied being "the one" She expected me to figure it out and act.
Meh. If someone complains of a tummyache or vomits, we'll know. Your bathroom and fibbing kid is not my emergency.
