VIRGINIA: does 3 semesters of nursing school waive CNA cert?

Published

I am 3/4 way through nursing school. I've completed 2 med-surg clinicals, plus OB, peds, and mental health. I would like to start working in a hospital in order to get my foot in the door for after graduation in December.

Hospitals in this area (iNOVA) do not seem to offer a PCT or nursing assistant position - just CNA's that were certified in Virginia. I heard that nursing students who have completed at least 1 semester may waive the CNA certification. I don't know if that applies to Virginia, and I don't know how I would get around that during the application process since the computer system would reject me based on the lack of CNA certification.

Anyone know about this? Thanks.
