I would like to learn more about the links in viral illnesses and autoimmune diseases and other illnesses that virus' cause. I am beginning to think that a lot more of the illnesses we see are directly r/t a viral illness. I know some that are more commonly linked. For example: Mono and Fibromyalgia, and heard of links from infections causing an over active immune system that triggers arthritis, lupus, MS, and I've even heard of it triggering DM! There seems to be a rise in the number of cases of the autoimmune disorders or they are getting better at diagnosing them and I'm sure all the boomers have affected the numbers.
I can't help but think of all the spreading of these illnesses as a great risk to humans. Everyone goes to work sick, sends their kids to school sick, goes to the store to shop sick, sick, sick, sick. My Grandma swears that they did not get sick as often as my family does when she was our age and younger. She thinks we are unhealthy but we think we are just over exposed--especially at school with the kids. She says they didn't have A/C and closed buildings. They had open windows, even in the hospitals and that nature ventilated and cleansed the air. She says b/c we live in environmentally controlled buildings is why we get sick so much.
She's a wise ol' gal. :-)
It's not just the viruses but the spread of bacteria too. So many people don't wash after using the BR. Yuck. Then you get their change. Yuck. I've heard the guys are worse about this but I've seen plenty of women bypass the sinks too.
I wish for the impossible I suppose. If people are sick, they can stay home without problems or threats from work. Everyone took basic skills in hygeine. LOL. And, that there would be alot more studies on the above links and education to the public. The CDC is a great resource to learn.
Just wondered if anyone else was intrigued by this. And, wouldn't you think what's going on the world would make people a little more cautious?
