I graduate in a month and I have a few questions about Vandy's Residency Program. I have an interview with them in a few days and I am freaking out..any tips? It's a panel interview for the adult critical care track. I have posted in the grad nurse section as well as the Tenn nurses forum but I'm not getting alot of help...hopefully some of the fabulous critical care nurses out there have been in this hospital's program before and would be willing to assist a future ICU nurse!! :bow:Thanks!

ICUgeek have you had your interview at Vande yet? How did it go? What type of questions did they ask, I have my interview the third week of this month for the critical care rotation and i am so nervous!! Anything you can tell me about the interview process would be of great help
Hey roxiejay, no I haven't had it yet, I am scheduled to go on the 8th. I'm really nervous but I have been so busy with school I haven't had time to even think about what I am going to say! I will let you know how it goes though, wish me luck!
You will do just fine!!! Good luck!!!!
how did the interview go? what type of questions did they ask? I haven't had a interview with a panel before and another girl on this site said that they ask scenario questions, how do you prepare for those??? So what rotation are you in at school, i just finished critical care and i am so glad that it's over now all i have is 7 weeks of leadership and then i graduate!!!!!yeah i am so excited!!!!
please reply back, i am anxious and nervous!!
hey roxiejay! Don't panic the interview went well. They are REALLY nice and knew that I was a nervous wreck. They asked a few simple questions about yourself and then a couple scenario questions. The scenario questions I just pulled stuff from my clinicals, work, and externship experience. It really wasn't that bad at all. There were three women that interviewed me and they were really good about helping me calm down by laughing and chatting with me. The only part that sucks is having to wait 4-6 weeks to find out whether or not we will be hired. I'm doing my pediatric/ob semester now. I just finished my peds clinicals rotation and now I am doing my 120 hrs preceptorship, then I do my ob clinicals. This semester is my hardest so far, but having the interview out of the way helps alot. I have HESI in 9 days and the only thing that was on my mind was that interview!
oh peds and ob sounds fun i remember those!!! I took hesi last month and passed with a 993, it wasn't that bad as everyone made it out to be....you'll do fine you have a week to prepare for it. Having to wait 4-6 weeks to know if you're hired is a long time....do you know how many new grads they take each residency?
I asked them how many they take and they said they honestly wouldn't know until interviewing was over. They said it was based on how many new hires each unit requests so they still don't know. I'm pretty sure I will do ok on the hesi since I did good on the last one, but I just want to pass it on the first try so that I can check that off my list on things to do! That must be nice to already have the exit hesi out of the way, I wish our school didn't make us wait to take it. I do enjoy peds/ob, but I know it's not what I want to do so it's hard to focus on it:icon_roll So what are you learning this semester? When is your vandy interview?
I just finished Critical care wednesday of this week.....I start leadership in two weeks and it lasts for 6 weeks and then i'm finished!!! yeah!!! i am so ready to graduate. My interview is on the 17th next friday
good luck today on your hesi!!!!
Thanks good luck on your interview today!!
