Valencia LPN to RN bridge program VS Excelsior online

Published

I am really hoping that someone can shed some light for me as to the intensity and work load of either the Valencia Advanced Standing Track LPN to RN bridge program or the Excelsior online LPN to RN program. I am currently an LPN student set to graduate in 2 months and am trying to decide which route to go. I have 4 prereque's completed to contribute to either program.

Ive heard conflicting answers about Excelsior.... can it be completed in 6 months or is it more like 18?

How intense is Valencias bridge program? How long should I expect to study per night/week?

Is it realistic to work 30-40 hours while in either program?

ANY info you could offer is greatly appreciated :)

You can get alot more info in you go to this link:

Has anyone graduated from Excelsior College? Need advice - Nursing for Nurses.

or search distant learning

Hope that helps

I am trying to decide the same thing and people are giving alot of helpful into.

Did you ever decide between the 2? U am an LPN who is torned between the 2 bridge programs, Excelsior and Valencia. What did you decide and what was your experience. Thanks!

I am currently enrolled in the Excelsior RN program. I can't see how anyone could possibly get through everything in 6 months unless they had NO life whatsoever, have the ability to learn and retain tons of information, be as wiz at taking tests, and have all prereques completed. Then you still have the big assessment thing and the clinicals to wait for and complete. Personally, I'm in Excelsior because I have too MUCH going on to be able to devote to full-time study. I'd love to get it done quickly, but I have to work. Furthermore, I work an insane amount of hours. I'm also paying for my school as I go so I don't have any extra debt once I get out. I like and need the flexibility of online school, but I tend to let life get in the way too much that I really wonder if I will ever get done.

I have Known a few LPNs who have completed Excelsior ' s program. Most of the ones I know completed in between 6 months and a year. I even know someone who started while they were finishing their LPN program, and graduated from Excelsior 3 months after completing their LPN program.

From what I hear, it's not wise to work so many hours while in a traditional bridge program at least not during the actual bridge part of it.

Just want to encourage you not to give up. I know one person who took 7 years to transition through Excelsior. But today, she signs her name as a RN
