So what?  Many nurses had to work covid positive early on in the pandemic as long as they felt well enough.  But they had to use PPE.  If we didn't allow asymptomatic people to work, who would be available to do anything because it's going to be hard to escape this virus and most people might not even be aware they have it.

Our nursing staff is 98% vaccinated.  They aren't leaving because of a mandate (which the hospital has), they are leaving because they have become  exhausted from taking care of the unvaccinated.  How many 12's can a person work in a row?  We don't have a logistical problem; we have a positivity with illness problem.  We have a problem with the unvaccinated patients who are using up the resources.  The thing speaks for itself.  It's unethical for nurses to promote vaccine hesitancy.

100% fake news. The health system I work for has over 12,000 employees. Less than 100 chose to quite rather than be vaccinated. Zero were physicians, and only one was an RN and he is just plain awful and they were building a case to fire him for incompetence anyway. Now instead of being the loser fired for being incompetent and immune to retraining, he gets to crow about being a victim on his social media, and he is. He had already been removed from patient care and was handing out masks at the main entrance. 

   MY bet is that it's a similar situation at other hospitals.

Indeed, I find your opinion of those vital people to be shocking. Those of us who work bedside are super aware of just how valuable and vital they are. 

    I can't imagine how you could have formed such a low opinion of them or why you believe them to be "lowly" and "ignorant".

I know, that was the reason for my post. As if just because only RNs and physicians didn't leave does not mean that any hospital can survive without the support staff  that possibly did leave because of mandate.

I'm not clear what it is you're proposing the mandate 'alternative' is from these articles.
