Vacation during Residency

Hello! 

I just started my nurse residency program as a new grad in the ED. When I got hired I already had a trip planned for the first two weeks of September since the year before. I told them during my initial screening and interview and I was told by multiple people that it would be no problem. I am able to attend the first week which is orientation and server learning but I miss the next two weeks. I'm nervous because it looks like the next week it's unit specific orientation and they made it sound like I was missing a lot. I am nervous I'll lose my job because I'll be behind but they pre approved me before my interview. I was wondering if anyone had experiences of having a pre planned trip during the very beginning of their program or knew of someone and what that experience was like.
