UVA Nurse Residency Program for Summer 2018 - Questions?

Hi everyone!

I have submitted the application for UVA's Nurse Residency program for the Summer of 2018, and wanted to start a thread to find anyone else in the same boat! It's been pretty difficult so far to get a response from their email, as I'm sure they're swamped with questions. I was hoping this post would draw old and new applicants to share their experiences and clarify the process! I submitted my resume with a cover letter along with their online application, but cannot determine if letters of recommendation are needed as there wasn't a specific spot to add those? Also, does anyone have rough estimates as to when we should hear back?

Any advice out there?

Hey there!

I applied to their ED and Med surg floors. I am also waiting to hear back but I applied late December. I also submitted the materials you did along with a transcript. I hope we hear back soon!

I too applied and submitted my application at the end of December, I was under the impression that they begin scheduling interviews in the beginning of January and the slots are filled first come first serve until there are no more from a UVA recruiter at one of my school events. As for references, I was unsure and getting a direct letter from people and submitting it myself seemed odd so I just submitted a document with names and contact information for people who had said I can use them as a reference but don't know if this was right.

Not hearing anything back yet is making me nervous.

Hey! Have y'all heard anything yet?

The recruiter did response awhile back saying letters of recommendation were not required, but optional.

No, nothing yet. I turned my application in on Dec 31st.

Same! I applied the first week of November and thought I would hear something by now. Anyone else hear anything?

I applied at the beginning of December and haven't heard anything back either. I know they start with UVA grads and previous UVA employees. I know a few people who have gotten positions, but the application is still open on the website!

Yea, idk what happened with this. It wasn't my first choice anyways, so I haven't bothered to follow up but I feel like at this point we should have been made aware if they wanted us for an interview or not.
