Anyone out here applying for the ABSN at University of South Florida for Summer 2017?!
Finishing up my last two classes now (bio and micro) and can't wait to apply! I hope I have a chance!
If there is already a thread, can someone please direct me? I was only able to find 2016. Only a little over a month until Summer 2017 applications open up!

I am applying for this coming summer. Hopefully my GPA isn't too bad. I finished a bachelors in allied health sciences with honors and my GPA was 3.51, but my USF degree works shows a 3.4 GPA... I don't get the calculation at all' I finished my microbiology class with 3.67 GPA from Johns Hopkins!
Perhaps the fact that I am not coming out of high school counts (I am 40 years old).

So happy to see someone respond!
I also found that my GPA was slightly different than my GPA was at my University in my first degree. My overall at my first degree program was a 3.65 on that transcript, but at USF it showed a 3.58. I'm guessing they don't count certain classes? I didn't bother digging into it too far, but I found the same thing.
I'm not sure age really comes into it, I'm guessing not. As far as I know, a lot of ABSN students aren't fresh out of school. As far as I'm concerned, no students in the ABSN are coming out of HS (since it is for second degree students).
Have you finished your application?
Yes, you are right about the HS fact...
I think the degree held by the applicant counts as a measure of selection too; (a Pre-Med Bachelor against a Bachelor in Arts for example).
Since I am not a traditional student (married, 4 kids, military wife - I just came back from South Korea where we lived for 2 years), I am afraid of not getting into the program; well, my plan B will be a simple ASN through a community college, than I will pursue my masters.
(SIGHT)
Another observation: with no offense, a high GPA in a pre-med bachelors is way more difficult than a high GPA in administration (just an example). So, it seems like there are only immaculate scores, but we don't know the background of every applicant. This gives me hope!

Hello! I have been waiting to find a post about the USF ABSN 2017! How exciting. I applied the first day it opened and have just been patiently waiting. I AM SO IMPATIENT! I wish you both luck! One more month and we should hear something in regards to the the interview process. I have been out of USF for 2 years and it freaked me out that the application only asks for your basic info, no resume, personal statement or anything, they only have our GPA's to go off of.... which makes me so nervous! Hopefully more people will start to post on here, and like I said before, GOOD LUCK!
I have felt a little uneasy about all of this also, for one, just because you can get good grades in certain backgrounds, doesn't meant you will thrive well in nursing classes/clinical's etc, which is why I find it so difficult to deal with the facts that they go strictly off of GPA/Major etc.

Today was the last day to apply. It would be nice if they did give some consideration to work experience and not rely simply on GPA for the first round. Good luck everyone!

Someone on another thread said that a CON staff informed there were 50 spots in the summer 2017 ABSN, though I cannot confirm if this is valid or not. I do not know how many interviews they conduct. I was also invited for an interview. Best of luck!
