Back in May/June 2007, I wrote on these boards trying to figure out how to become a UK RN. I had many people say it couldn't be done, but I'm here to tell you that it can!

I just wanted to give a quick update that I am now a registered RN1 with the NMC and am working as a travel nurse through an agency that offers 13 week assignments with travel pay and bonuses (not sure if I'm allowed to mention their name here, but feel free to message me and I will be happy to share it!). My recruiter helped me with EVERYTHING - from getting all the required paperwork for the NMC, contacting the NMC on my behalf regarding my application, setting up my Overseas Nursing Programme 20 day course, and helping me with my work visa. They even provide housing and I am starting at the beginning of March in a London hospital.

It was a long process for me as my university messed up my forms several times, and since I did not live in the US while applying (I lived in Germany) it was a bit more difficult for me as I had to arrange everything by phone or mail instead of in person, but it all got sorted out and I'm finally going to be working in England! I can't tell you how excited I am.

So, if you have any questions, please feel free to message me or post here. I look forward to helping others also follow their dreams at working in the UK.

PS - My ONP course had 4 Americans in the class, 2 Canadians and the rest were Australian. In my flat share there is a Canadian and an Australian. There are many Americans that work for this agency, so yes it is possible for anyone who qualifies! :yeah:
