US RN planning a move to the UK or Ireland

Published

Good evening all!

I am a US-based RN with my BSN and 15 years of experience. I am looking to move to the UK or Ireland and hoping for some advice. My husband and I are struggling to decide where to hone our search within Great Britain. I know I will not be making the same salary as the US, and I'm absolutely okay with this. Our quality of life in the US is abysmal, with constant safety concerns and unrest, and I'm willing to take a pay cut to improve our quality of life.

First, I currently work as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and I absolutely adore my job. I would love to continue working in this field if at all possible. As far as work experience goes, my career has been in OB/GYN and community health nursing before my SANE role over the past 3 years. Although I have not worked bedside, I'm not opposed to it by any means. I've contacted a few people about my options to work as a SANE overseas, but I would love it if anyone has any "real-world" experience working in any specific locations.

Second, we have a 9-year-old daughter who is outgoing, full of energy, and excited for the opportunity to live somewhere else. One thing we would really like to keep consistent for her is keeping her in competitive cheerleading. Otherwise, if people have certain towns or cities they would recommend for a family with a school-aged child, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for any and all feedback!
