Ursuline College Second Degree Accelerated Program (SDAP) 2024

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I recently applied to Ursuline College's second degree accelerated nursing program for fall 2024. I'm really hoping to get in as it's one of my top choices. I live in California, so making the move to Ohio for school would be a big decision. I want to hear from students who have graduated from the program, or who are currently enrolled. Do you feel like you're prepared to be a competent nurse? Are you receiving what you believe to be a quality education?

I would also love to hear from other applicants! What inspired you to apply to Ursuline? Anybody relocating? Plans for housing? Let me know!

Hi,

I got accepted into the Spring 2024 cohort. I'm super excited to begin the program as I have heard a lot of positive things about the school. I'm also from California (Bay) and it will be a big move for me as well. I have spoken to some past and current students from California and they confirmed Ursuline is a good choice. I will keep you posted when I start the program. Good luck.

I'm applying to the January cohort. How long did it take to get your decision and was it difficult to find housing? Also how much was shipping your car?

I got a decision within 2 weeks after all documents were submitted. I'm starting the program in 2024. I have found a couple of places near the school and looking for a housemate. If you get admitted into the Spring 2024 cohort we could share if you don't mind.

A lot of students stay at the Coppertree Apartments, the Drake apartments, or on campus. If you go to the ABSN FB group, some of the (past) ABSN students parents purchased property and rent it out; it's nicer than the apartments and you'll save money this way. The program is highly respected because it produces competent nurses. I've known graduates who felt ready, upon graduation. I personally wish I'd have attended an associates program at a community college because the pay difference here between RN and BSN is only $1 and you could work to pay off the loans (while getting a bachelors). The private loans are predatory. I will pay 55k for a 20k loan, to put things into perspective. I do highly recommend the program but I wish I would've known this prior to. Also, in 2025, there's going to be a push for NP's to get DNP's. Those who have achieved an NP, by 2025, will be grandfathered in; those who haven't will have to get a DNP. This is something to consider, if you're planning on NP.

Yea that would work. Especially since I wouldn't have a lot of time to LOL for lodging.  What is the price range you are looking at.

I just submitted my deposit for the fall 2024 cohort. I'm also coming from California! From searching in the SDAP facebook page, it seems that there are several people in previous cohorts who have made the move from California.

Yeah, there are several people coming from California, my cohort has more than 10 students from California.

Wow! @Yen Ami how many people are in your cohort?
