Does anyone have personal experience with UTC's new ABSN program?

Published

Hi! I haven't found any threads regarding UTC's ABSN program, so I thought I'd start one and see if this is relevant to anyone. UTC started their ABSN program about a year ago. I don't think their first cohort has even graduated yet. It might be a long shot, but is anyone from that program on here? I got accepted for the Summer 2024 cohort, but I have a few other schools I'm waiting to hear back from. Would love to hear if anyone has personal experience with this program!

I noticed they recently added more information to the website and it says 4-6 weeks.

So hopefully it's any day now rather than 2 weeks from now!

Good luck to everyone!!

Yes, I did! I'm in it now 🙂 Let me know if you have any questions.

I saw online that the required passing grade for the nursing classes is 78% which is high. How difficult is it to achieve this grade and how many people has your cohort lost due to not getting this grade ?

Anyone else that is waiting for Fall 2024 acceptance hear any news or updates?

I got accepted today but I am scared to attend because of the required 78% passing grade for the classes in the ABSN program.

I got a decision letter back, they informed me that I was alternate number 5 for the program. I'm super bummed about it but, trying to stay positive. I just can't imagine 5 people turning down their spot in order for me to get in. My friend said sometimes people don't complete all the necessary steps or attend orientation so they move to the alternate list. Does anybody know when the orientation is? Until then looks like I'm still in the waiting game until August 15th! I hope some of you had better news! Rooting for you!

It was a "no" for me. oh well.

What is the cost of living like in Chattanooga? Are apartments there expensive?

In my opinion yes, single bedroom-two bedroom range from 1,600-2,200. Gas is a little lower than national average but everything else is pretty standard.

Alright. You have a chance of getting in.  Some people might turn their offer down. Do you know how hard the 78% passing  grade is to achieve?

My cohort is only 5 weeks in so we haven't lost anyone.. I was intimidated with the 78% at first, but I think it's doable. I have a high A in all my classes right now. The professors really work with you and prepare you well for exams. They constantly emphasize how we can go to them for anything we need and that there are always resources at our disposal. If you got in, it must mean they think you are capable of excelling, so don't let the 78% scare you away!

I agree, cost of living is very expensive! If you move here, I suggest looking for roommates or moving to north Georgia which is just about 15 minutes away from the school. That's what I did. If you live in Georgia, you can get a regional tuition discount of about $2,000 per semester versus paying out of state tuition. If you move to Tennessee, you only qualify for in state tuition if you've been living there for at least 12 months whereas there is no time requirement if you move to a bordering state. Just something to keep in mind.

You really never know. There is one guy in my cohort now who was an alternate. There was also another girl who dropped out right before classes started, and they called in another alternate, but unfortunately it was too last minute for any other alternate to take her place. There's also a guy who got waitlisted for the last cohort and then got in this time around. So you just never know!
