University of San Francisco BSN Fall 2015 Housing

Hey!

Congrats to both of us first off:)

ive beenlooking for housing and its a mission to find reasonable apartments. Dorms are pretty expensive. It's about 600-700 to share a room with one person and 1500 for ur own room!

Im not growing a money tree haha.

I start clinicals in spring! And I would be more than happy to find housemates starting the same time as me:) as long as rent isn't crazy. And I'm 21 so around the same age. Im in a committed relationship of 5 years so there's no issues there! My bf goes to sj state and he would be visiting often, vice versa.

But im open to looking for housing with you!

Hahaha, I would be happy to room with just about anyone at 600-700 a month. How many people do you think would be ideal for a housing situation? I was originally hoping for two to three bedrooms where everyone had a single, but the more and more I run the math, the harder it is to justify not having 2 per room. I don't have enough posts for pm yet, but we can get more specific in looking at each others plans to find housing in the next month or two.

There re are some reasonable ones if you dig hard enough. I've found a few but for 600 it would be sharing a room with another Person

I think it would be really cool if a large batch of our cohort ended up renting together, my only concern is that it may be too much time with the same group. I don't know if this is unfounded, but something I considered. Do you know if housing around campus is flexible to accommodate that stud don't need to be there over summer or do most people sublet it?

Were you planning on attending one of the nursing transfer sessions that are offered on the first Wednesday of every month? I was considering attending the one on May 6th to finalize details regarding what classes I could take over summer to minimize core courses I would need to take in the fall.

I considered commuting, but I figured it would end up detracting too much from time I needed to study. It could isolate someone depending on how far they end up having to commute.

I planned out my courses and it looks like I only need two units at USF the first semester. Ill be commuting from home for the first semester as a result. It looks like my search for housing options will be postponed till spring.

Hi greengels and appyza, I know this thread is old but I'm a new spring transfer and will be commuting from the Los Altos/Mountain View area for this semester (depending on how it goes I will probably be moving either to Redwood City/San Mateo or the city next fall.) I was wondering if you could share some insight on how the commute was/is?! Thanks in advance :)

Hey CaScrublife,

Commuting was pretty draining because my classes were all 8 ams. I ended up needing to catch the 5:45 ish Caltrain to make it to class with some fudge room. I feel it was a lot better than driving ( because you have the ability to study or sleep) but is not cost effective unless you have a Caltrain go pass.If your only taking classes a few days a week, it's definitely worth commuting. It's just draining some days.

My experience was unique because I only had the two unit classes so I didn't really get to know my cohort very well. If you're up more frequently than I was, that shouldn't be an issue. I look forward to seeing you around campus.
