University of Phoenix bridge program ADN-BSN

Published

Hi everyone,

I have applied to College of Marin, where I would get my ADN, and then I could bridge to get my BSN through the University of Phoenix.

Ultimately, I want to get my FNP, but I don't want to make a mistake and have a degree that isn't worth anything!

I contacted Sonoma State University to see if my BSN from University of Phoenix would be recognized, and the answer was yes.

Has anyone completed a bridge program through University of Phoenix?

How was your experience?

I hear that the bridge program is mainly all online.

Was it really expensive?

Thanks everyone, any advice would be really helpful!

I don't think you'll find it less expensive than a reputable state university online RN to BSN program. Is there a particular reason you're looking at this program?

With the school that I'm trying to get into--college of Marin--they use UOP as a bridge program while you are getting your RN, you are also attending UOP at the same time to get your BSN.

I am currently wrapping up my LVN-BSN at University of Phoenix in Salida. The program has its ups and downs. I'm absolutely happy though that I am finally going to be done in May and have a chance to sit for a NCLEX RN.

Now, UOP give you a lot of busy work. I go to school one day a week for 4 hours. Everything is jammed packed into it. So for me it's like going to summer school. But its great because I can actually say that I attended a full-time nursing program and worked full-time. The upper-division classes have a lot of essays, and powerpoints. For classes such as epidemiology and community/family nursing, you have to do clinicals. All my course work was submitted online.

Hi there! What is a mock schedule like for you? Ive heard that class only meets once a week for about the first two years. Once clinicals comes around do you do those during the weekends? Just trying to see how realistic it is to work full time also while going to this school. Also, how long have you been in the program for? I have some pre reqs I am able to transfer over so hoping that would cut the cost and time down for me there. Ive heard many people been at UOP for 5 years and some completed in 3. Just trying to pick someones brain that is currently in the program. Thanks!

Hi,

I'm in my ADN program at a community college and I'm taking classes at university of Phoenix all online. My UOP classes are during my breaks from nursing school (summer, winter break.

Then after I get my RN license, I will have 9 more months of all online UOP courses, then I will have my BSN.

I'm not doing my whole nursing degree with UOP. It sounds like that's what you are interesting in doing, correct?

Class was from 6-10 every Wednesday but your day can vary. Clinical are between 8-12 hour shifts on the weekends and sometimes weekdays. I transferred in with my AA and completed in 3 years. Transfer in with a AA versus with just classes. They honor degrees and doesn't matter how long ago you took classes. But if you transfer in all classes may only count for 5 years such as math or English. Prereqs like anatomy only count within 3 years. I'm already done with school and passed my nclex and working. I only worked full time and school full time cause I had a cool job with the VA. They took care of me and knew I was going to school so I banked all vacations and took advantage of downtime there. I probably wouldn't have passed this school with another job. Good luck and hurry and talk to admissions cause the school has a long wait list or doesn't enroll sometimes during the year
