I recently got admitted to both JHU DEMSN and Penn's MPN/MSN program with a concentration in PMHNP. I'm currently torn between which program to choose, as both programs are so highly regarded. I do have plans to pursue PMH nursing and eventually being a PMHNP, which is why Penn's MPN/MSN program is logistically the "safest" way to accomplish this goal. The downside is that Penn's MPN portion of the program is estimated to be around 20K more expensive than JHU, and in terms of cost of attendance, Penn would be overall more expensive (at least for the MPN portion of the program). In addition, I personally love JHU and have wanted to go there since high school— but I can't tell if this is clouding my judgment in making a decision..
With JHU I would have to go through the process of applying for DNP/a second MSN for PMHNP after graduating, which is in a sense "riskier" since I won't have that fall back of pursuing my MSN in Penn's program.
Would past, current, or future students of either program (or any DE MSN programs) be able to provide me with some input/direction as to the pros and cons of either program? I have been thinking about this nonstop since I got my decisions and don't know if I can wait until the deposit deadline without ripping my hair out from overthinking...
