University of Miami traditional BSN fall 2012

Published

Hello everyone!

I have been admitted to UM for the fall 2012 for traditional BSN. I'm so excited, but my concern is about loans, financial aid, and private loans and so on. I am a transferred student from Miami Dade College which is really cheaper than this school. If there is anyone else has been admitted, I think so is this the best way in order to keep in contact. Also, if there are students who have been already in the program (2nd semester and up) or who are done too, tell us about their experience, how did you get loans, scholarships or any financial help?

I really appreciate your quick answers!! Good luck to everyone!

Hey!

I was also admitted to the UM Nursing Program for this Fall and am concerned about the tuition cost. To be honest with you, i love UM but I don't think I'll be attending their program. I already put in the deposit and everything but the reality is that I rather go to Nova which just accepted me into the Kendall campus, then end up in debt from UM which barely gave me any money at all. :crying2:

I am trying to make myself feel better by telling myself that maybe I can finish these two years at Nova, save money (a lot of money!), and then work. After my two years of work experience I can go to UM for my Masters since they offer the program I want. :w00t:

lol I know i didnt give the best advice but I just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone!

Have you gotten in anywhere else? Did UM give you any money at all?

Hope to hear from you soon! :)

Congrats!! Good for you. Well,I applied for NOVA also but I did not receive any answer yet, and I have to pay coming soon $500 dollars to UM. I don't know what I'll do because UM says that I'm elegible to get scholarship due for my good academic standard. I'm really desperate since I can't wait to start my career and I am aware that will be the same debt because UM are 4 semesters in contrast to NOVA with 7 semester. I think if start in UM, I'm going to done fast and then I'll get to work soon. Good luck! I hope to hear soon about you too!!

I already paid the $500 and although that is true keep in mind that UM will be $80,000 approx. And Nova is only 27 months so just one extra semester compared to UM. It'll still be cheaper for me at least than two years at UM. But you say your getting money so thats great! UM didnt give me anything only like less than $10,000. :bluecry1:

So I feel forced into Nova which isn't a bad thing since it ranks higher. Ugh! We're on the same boat only your getting money from UM lol.

What was your gpa? I would be going to UM to if they gave me more but I don't want to be in debt after, especially if I want to go for my masters.

No, I did not get back my money from UM yet because I'm still in processing to get into or not. Honestly, if my decision were not, I don't think they are going to give me my money back. Well, yes it's true, Nova has a excellent program with high rank for passing NCLEX. I would have rather Nova since I have a lot of friends from MDC who started in January and would have were better for making a study group. I applied to Nova the last year and this year, but I do not understand why I was not accepted for January. My GPA in sciences is 3.75 and accumulative is 3.69. The bad of Nova is the lack of organization and its kind of evaluation ( I say due to my experience ). Good luck in everything you decide and really appreciate your answer!! Thanks a lot.

Anytime! I'm sure anything you decide to do will work out for the best! Goodluck! :nurse:
