Hello, I have a bit of a dilemma and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice. Currently, I am a freshman at the University of Washington and have decided to pursue a degree in nursing. The problem is that I have made this decision later than others, and only began taking the prerequisite courses for my spring quarter. I am behind most other pre-nursing students. Recently, I had the idea to switch over to a community college to complete my AA in pre-nursing rather than staying at the UW. My reasoning behind this is that at the CC I am considering, classes are offered every quarter whereas at the UW certain classes are only offered certain quarters, and sometimes it can be extremely difficult to get a spot in the classes you want at UW. Additionally, UW is EXTREMELY competitive, and most classes are set to a curve with an average grade around a 2.5-2.6. This can be a problem in that some of the nursing programs I am considering require a student to maintain a 3.0 or better in their classes, something I foresee being a problem at UW. Mainly, I am wondering if nursing schools would prefer I come from UW with lower grades or from a CC with higher grades. Would they be more likely to accept students coming from universities? Tuition is not something I am concerned about, I am willing to pay for whatever would give me the best chance. Any advice is MUCH appreciated!
