Universidad Americana PR

Published

Hello! is anybody planning on attending UAPR this coming November?

I will be and wanted to connect with anybody else that might be.

Good luck.  It is a HORRIBLE program.  I have no clue how they are accredited.  And since it is in Puerto Rico they don't keep track of NCLEX pass rates as the people that live in PR do not need the NCLEX to work there.  I failed many times at 75 questions.  I am just now thinking about trying to study for NCLEX again and that is why I am back in this forum.  I need a program that will teach me the core content.

I know many people that 10 years later still have not passed.  Only do this if you are good at self studying.  You will get a degree but you will not learn anything.  I did their second degree Bachelors of Nursing a decade ago and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.97 GPA yet I learned nothing.  I am not joking.  Most the classes had open book exams and you had 48 hours to do the tests.  It really is a joke of a program.  You will have to teach yourself everything.  In clinicals you do not learn anything.  I never once drew blood or did anything.  We basically just followed around nurses and got an A grade for doing nothing.  We didn't have  guide to follow or things we had to check off.

I cannot stress how horrible this program is.  Many people from the states go to PR because it is easy to get into and the program is in English but DO NOT DO IT.  You will regret it.

If you do go, live at the beach.  The first year I lived in "La Cumbre" which is next to the school but the second year I lived in Ocean Park on the beach and it was really nice and so cheap.  I paid 700.00 for a huge 1 bedroom 1 block from the beach in a gated community. I live in San Francisco where the average 1 bedroom apartment is 2,795.00 and I would never be able to afford anything on the beach.  If you have roommates you will pay less.

Just start studying on your own early on.

@WorldTravelingYogi Hello, I am so glad I ran into your post! Do you know if the state of California would restrict anyone who graduated from there from taking the NCLEX due to them not having completed Anatomy and Physiology?
