Hello. I know once you get a couple years under your belt as a nurse in a hospital you can pretty much switch over to any field in nursing but....
My question is are there certain specialties/units that would be attracted to a nurse with a background in clinical research nursing (a nurse with a history of taking care of patients in a hospital who are participating in clinical trials)?
Just thinking if I don't want to be in clinical research nurse forever, what units may like me. Thanks

Units that do a lot of research ... and need their staff to be comfortable with that and meticulous with following the protocols to the letter as they provide care. That might vary a bit from hospital to hospital, depending on which teams of physicians are active in research at any particular place. Some units may also be involved in a lot of nursing research and similarly prefer to hire people who share an interest in research.
In my hospital, the hematology/oncology unit does the most clinical research -- both physicians and nursing. The NICU also does more than most other units.
Thank you! I sincerely appreciate the reply. The research hospital where I work doesn't do research for infants but we do have a peds unit. I'm just wondering if I'll be able to get into OB nursing down the road in case I want to leave the research hospital. I'm aware of a children's hospital in the area that does a lot of research.
