Ungrateful VA Worker

Nurses General Nursing

I've been working for the Department of Veteran Affairs for 2 years now. This was the job of my dreams... My 'end all' and retire job. Unfortunately, working with some of these Veterans are not what I expected. These 2 incidents (of Many!) might provide an explanation of why I feel some type of way about working with Veterans. I'm grateful for their sacrifice in defending this nation but please don't expected me to be forever indebted to you for your service.

I was working with a patient who did 4 yrs in the army and saw war. When it came time for his discharge he protested, called the media and Senate yelling "I put my life in the line fir them and this is how they repay me! They all owe me"

Another time me and a nurse was in the community when a mentally ill veteran threatened us and claimed he could get away with our murders... we called the police and they couldn't do anything. Another time we found proof of a veteran committing fraud (travel vouchers) costing the system over $20000.

Am i wrong to say I am starting to get fed up and a little burned out? In not sure if this ia for me anymore :-/
