Hello all,I am interested in applying for the 2013 part-time BSN program at UMDNJ. I am curious if any individuals in the all nurses community are enrolled, or are considering applying in the program. Can anyone provide feedback? Due to some financial restrictions, I will have to work full-time in a non-health related field while attending school (well, hopefully attend :-)). I am assuming that the part-time program is geared towards individuals who work a significant amount of hours per week. Thanks!
Hey!
i started the pt-bsn at umdnj back in 2011 ( half done and dying to graduate ) we normally have class thursdays ( starts 5:30 till w.e time but def. not too late ) sometimes fridays ( this sem we dont have it ) and clinicals are saturdays ( normally 7:30/8am - 2/3pm). There are 13 of us in the class and most of us work FT jobs ( some work 3 days 12 hours shift, some work 5 days 8 hour shift and others work more) Definitly accommodating for students to work... you just have to find the balance and time between studying, work and school. You can even have a social life! lol. I dont work fulltime but i put in between 25-30 hours at work.
If you have any specific questions let me know!
Thanks for the prompt response. I am curious how difficult it is to get into the program. May I ask what your GPA was? Did you volunteer? I have a 3.35 with a BA in Psychology, and my pre-req GPA is around 3.7 (unfortunately I received a C in statistics way back when). I am hoping to volunteer at a hospital sometime this summer as my healthcare experience is fairly limited. Any suggestions? Thanks!
my gpa wasnt great lol i graduated with a 3.2 gpa with a BS in biology. My pre-reqs i dont remember the GPA exactly but i got an A in everything but Gen Chem which i got a C in but i was told during the info session if you took a higher level science they would take that instead so i guess they took my Orgo which i got a B+ in. I worked in a nursing home as a unit clerk but tbh i dont really think having health care experience in necessary since i think some of my classmates really didnt do anything healthcare related but they did have an outstanding GPAs. Volunteering may be a plus and perhaps you can even get one of them to write you a recommendation. I know clara maass, when i volunteered, they can assign you to be a "nursing volunteer" especially since your interesed in pursing a career in that field.
I know this is an old thread but does anyone who went through the part time program at UMDNJ/Rutgers have any advice as far as getting ready for the program?? I got accepted for summer 2014 and I wanted to maybe brush up on material or do something to prepare myself for the program. Is there anything you think I should prepare myself for?? Like the teas? Any advice at all would be helpful
Hello baileyzt. When did you get notified of your acceptance into the summer 2014 program? When did you submit your application? I also applied and I was wondering when they would start acceptance.
I am so sorry I am just getting back to you. I haven't been back to this thread in a while. But I heard back the first week of February, submitted my application January 4th, and it was verified and submitted to the school January 15th. Did you hear back yet??
