UMass Boston ABSN vs. Northeastern ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! I'm currently applying to ABSN programs in the Boston area and I'm pretty torn on whether the tuition costs are worth it.

Two of the programs that are top on my list are Northeastern and UMass Boston. Northeastern costs ~80k for a 16-month program, while UMass Boston costs ~40k for a 12-month program. After talking to a few recent-grad nurses, it seems that it's extremely helpful to work as a patient care technician or something similar at a hospital to start networking and this will increase the likelihood of being able to secure a job at that hospital after graduation.

From your perspective, is a program like Northeastern more reputable than UMass Boston (it seems that their NCLEX pass rates are comparable)? Will it be easier to find a job if I graduate from Northeastern vs. UMass Boston? Also, looking forward, if I want to go to NP or CRNA school in the future, does it matter where I get my BSN?

Thank you ?

Fast forward....in this exact place right now. How did you handle this? Any regrets so far? What can you advise

Hello! I'm interested in going to UMass Boston for their RNFA program but it looks like there's not much "unofficial" info regarding UMass Boston for their nursing programs. What did you end up pursuing? Good luck with your academic goals!
