Hello, I am part of the online DNP program. I do not feel completely isolated because there is group work, fuze calls, and a lot of communication with the instructors, they are always available. One thing though is that you will be more proactive because you have to seek preceptors in your area.
Ok here is the PM I sent you!
I am in the process of researching dnp programs. I find the program at UMass Amherst very attractive but I have some reservations being that the entire program is online. How do you think this works for you? What is the set up? Is it mostly PowerPoint presentation that you have to read through? Does the school use video conferences/Skype to deliver the didactic portion? I am actually interested in the Public Health Leader track but I remember reading that you are in the NP program. Do you know what the process is for finding clinical sites? What kind of assistance does the school provide? Thank you in advance!
The program is a little of everything, there are PPT's, online discussions, group work, fuze calls with the class; it's not just notes, and then take a quiz. Every class is different, some don't require so much interaction but teachers are always available to answer questions or clarify content. As for clinical sites, you are required to find your own preceptors, but I heard that that is usually the case for NP programs. I am currently working on that so I can't really tell you how easy or hard it will be (ask me in a few months lol).

I am looking to chat with people who have had experience with online dnp programs. I am reluctant to try an online program as I feel I may loose something that you get out of being in class with real people... Any comments or suggestions would be helpful...
