I am starting training in ultrasound iv placement. I can get into the vein but once I am in, having trouble advancing further into the vein. I have successfully started 2. Have to do 20 before I can do it on my own. Any tips for advancing once in get in? I am having trouble not looking down as well. I know this might be difficult to get help for such a visual task online but any thoughts would be awesome!!!! TIA.

It takes awhile to become proficient at placing a catheter with US. What has always helped me was to ensure that once I get my flashback, I don't watch the site, but rather keep my eyes on the screen and advance the wire, while keeping track to ensure the needle tip is still "glowing" on the screen. It is that whole eye/hand coordination thing which does take some time getting use too. Make sure that you aren't putting too much pressure on the probe or transducer either, as this can push down on the vein and cause obstruction. Are you freehanding it, or using needle guides?
