UIC Nursing.

Hi

I am just curious as to how competitive getting into UIC nursing program really is. I just met with a counselor and he said no test are required, just the 57 pre-requisites. So if only those 57 pre-nursing classes are required, then why is he saying its extremely competitive? Is there a wait list? Do you just need a high gpa? How do they even evaluate a candidate?

I am applying to uic and if I do get accepted I hope to be a pre-nursing major, and I just want to know if I need to work my butt off in these pre classes to get a high gpa when applying to the program if that is all the program requires. My biggest fear is that I'm going to complete these 57 pre-reqs and then not get accepted into the program and then I won't know what to do with myself. Any advice is very MUCH appreciated.

THANK YOU.

UIC is probably the hardest nursing school to get into in IL. I've heard they get hundreds of applications...and I think they only accept like 70 people. I don't know the exact number but its something like that. They do have a wait list but UIC is often times most people's top choice...so many people don't make it off the wait list unless they are high up on it. It is easily the best nursing school in IL. They receive many qualified applicants, but don't have enough seats in the program. So only the best of the best get in. My advice to you is to try as hard as you can to get all A's and have a back up school just in case you don't get in. I've heard that the majority of the people accepted there have over 4.50 GPA's. Many of them 3.80-4.0...There are many people who are good enough to be in the program but don't get in. Good luck!
