Hi everyone,
I'm ready to apply to nursing schools to begin a second career. I need some advice on if I should complete all of my prerequisites for ABSN programs before applying. I talked to the programs (UF, USF, UCF) and only USF needs all prereqs complete by their application deadline. With that being said, I've gotten the feeling from the advisers that the more I can complete by the time they evaluate my app, the better. After this summer, I would have to take 4 classes: A&P II (required by all), Chem I (required by USF and UCF), Microbiology (all) and Human Growth and Development (all). To those who have done it before, is it possible to take all of these in one semester and still do well in them? I shouldn't say possible, but rather, doable without being insanely stressed out with no time for anything but studying. This summer I'm taking A&P I and Psychology while working (I'd have to quit my current job if I went for all four classes).
I'm hoping to apply to Summer 2013 starts, so I'd have to apply at the end of this fall. Also, if anyone has gone though UF, UCF or USF ABSNs, I'd love to hear your input about the admissions process and programs. And if there are other progrms besides these that offer BSNs for non-nurses with a prior degree in Florida that you'd recommend, I'd also love to hear about your positive experiences!
Thanks!
