AAACCK! I just saw on the web site that U of MD has "deactivated' their CNM program as of Fall 2007. Does anyone have any information on what that means? I don't think they were on probation. I know their accrediting was scheduled for June 07, and now this....just looking for any info anyone can share.
I guess I need a new plan.

I was devastated when I saw that, too! :trout: I haven't done any investigation to see if it's permanent. I'm starting their undergrad program in August and I'll try to find out more info then, but I've already started looking at other programs.
The good thing is that it made me reevaluate my goals, so I'm interested in dual degree programs now. Georgetown has a CNM/Women's Health Practitioner program that look interesting. I'm also looking at Emory, Vanderbilt, and U Penn. Might as well get everything I can for that much of an investment.
There are also online programs that you can do. The practicals can be done in the town that you reside in.
Unless there is a change in the next 4 years, that's what I'm planning to do because it the reason why I wanted to go into nursing in the first place. Good luck and, if anyone has any info, please post!

They really just had low enrollment....that's all!
really?!
I emailed with the interim dean with question and why wouldn't she just say that? Instead, I got a return email stating that the deactivivation was "indefinite" and they "had no plans for the future to reactivate". I might want to "pursue the FNP option if I were going to attend U of MD" with a focus in women's health.
Strange. I certainly would like to see it come back.
