Tuition Question for Oakland Univ regarding NRS220 and Is that Cours Tough?

Published

Hey all,

I figured I'd get a faster answer here. If you go to the link here: http://www4.oakland.edu/upload/docs/SBS/200830%20tuition%20&%20fees.pdf

You will see little notes at the top of the tuition columns (see notes 1, 2, or 3).

I'm considered a 2nd degree student, but PRE NURSING. THat means I'm taking undergrad courses to get the prereqs out of the way. Here's what I'm not sure about.

I am starting my first prereq semester in the summer and wanted to pick up the NRS220 Nutrition in Nursing course. Now, how will I be charged? The course is considered Undergrad I believe, but i'm a second degree UNDERGRAD student.

So, am I going to be paying 276 a credit if I take that course or am I going to be paying 252? I'm assuming it will be 276, because they're basing it off of your college status, not the type of course it is...

Thanks Gang...and if anyone can tell me, is that course tough? I wanted to pick it up as a 3rd course in the summer, going to be taking BIO155 at WC3 as well as Intro to Psychology (101), and that Nursing course in the summer is only 7 weeks. I figured I could handle it for 7 weeks (really 5 weeks whre I have to deal with all 3 because the semester at WC3 starts 2 weeks later). And I only have to be on campus for the BIO labs...everything else is online.

ANy advice would be appreciated

Hi Firehawk,

You'll be charged the higher rate because you're a post-bachelor student.

You can also take this course at Schoolcraft college, where it is cheaper, and I think it's accepted by OU. Registration is right now at Schoolcraft, so check on this by asking Kristine White at OU school of nursing.

The course is not nearly as difficult as other pre-nursing courses, but there is a fair degree of work to be done. It's interesting. By the way, you can take this class online. Best wishes to you.

Thank you, I already have it signed up through Oakland, and am going to attend Wayne County Community, would be weird trying to juggle 3 schools LOL.

It's only 7 weeks through Oakland, which is nice because I'd only have 3 courses going for 5 of the weeks since Wayne COunty's starts 2 weeks later than Oakland's semester. But to save myself some possible cash, I will look into Schoolcraft. Thanks again.

Hello..In August '07, I attended an information meeting for the 2nd degree BSN program at OU.

I pulled out my file, and confirmed: Oakland University requires that you take NRS220 (Nutrition), NRS227 (Patho) and NRS308 (Pharmo) at Oakland.

They were pretty adamant about that.

They will accept BIO 307 (Microbiology) and PSY225 (Developmental Psych) from any accredited school.

The meeting was very helpful..the Advising Office number is 248.370.4253.
