Nursing Students School Programs

Let's talk TEAS test and scores, your stats, application, etc.~

My overall GPA score is not that great *sigh*... I have a 3.0 and it's mainly because I have 3 F's on my transcript. May sound silly, but I did not know at the time that I could just drop a class...so I just left it sitting there. :arghh: I was a dispatcher for a Police Department and realized that there was no way I could do school and work at the same time. I may retake them but I may not have enough time as I am taking other classes (they won't even go towards the nursing program at all).

Do y'all think I should retake these classes to raise my cumulative GPA? I am already taking a full load of classes for summer and will be taking 4 classes this fall. I wonder if they will even look at my application with a cumulative of 3.0... Although my cumulative GPA is low, my science GPA is 4.0...:cautious:

Hi! I'm applying for the Spring of '19 there in Lubbock.

I am pretty sure at TTUHSC, they only consider the required prerequisites when calculating your overall and science GPAs. So if the classes you made Fs in are prereqs, you definitely need to retake them, because they require Cs or better on all prerequisite courses. But if they're random, unnecessary courses that have nothing to do with the prereqs, they won't be calculated in your overall GPA for the purposes of applying to nursing school. :-)

Oh wow okay! Thanks for letting me know! :D That's so great to hear! Is that what they told you? I haven't been to TTU to speak to anyone...not sure if I have to? Also, have you taken your TEAS yet? So excited for us!

That's just what I've heard from other Pre-Nursing/Nursing students here at Tech! And I would highly recommend at some point coming to talk to the prospective student advisor at the HSC, because she can help you make sure everything is in good shape for your application and that you have all the correct information! Yes, I took my TEAS about a month ago and made a 92% on it (I'm not really sure of the scale and how they weigh those scores in their application review). Are you applying for traditional BSN or 2nd degree or RN-BSN?

Thanks so much! Wow that sounds like you did amazing on the TEAS~ great job! I am applying to the tradition BSN! What about you? I'm probably moving to Lubbock within the next week or so. I'll for sure go and get some advising to make sure I'm on the right track! Are you already a tech student?

Yes, I'm applying for traditional BSN also! And yes, I am a pre-nursing student at Tech currently. I'm so excited for us! I wish you the best :-)

Wish you the best too girl!! Let me know how everything goes for you!!!
